Samuel C. Florman - Civil Engineer and Author

Michael's journey began in Manchester, UK, where he was born and raised. He completed his engineering education at the University of Manchester, graduating in 1999 with a Master's degree in Structural Engineering with Architecture. During his studies, Michael spent a year at the Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg in Germany, where he broadened his engineering design expertise, gained fluency in German, and developed a deep appreciation for German beer.
After graduation, Michael worked in the telecommunications sector, managing site and tower portfolios, designing base stations for mobile carriers' 3rd generation network rollout, and analyzing lattice towers and foundations. These projects were typically small scale with rapid turnaround times, involving multidisciplinary teams across England, parts of Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
In 2006, Michael relocated to Kelowna, enchanted by the region after a brief visit in 2005. He transitioned into the construction industry, building a strong network of contacts and amassing a wealth of design experience. His projects included sewage and wastewater treatment plants, multi-storey condominiums, schools, healthcare facilities, and other residential constructions, showcasing the diverse Kelowna engineering services he now provides.
In 2016, Michael founded Elemental Structural Engineers, a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to excellence and ensuring every project is executed with precision and care.
